CRIMSON STAIN

Your sorrow

Rides over me

A slow gallop

Losing speed

As invisible tears

Drip freely

Onto my heart

Where they feed

And sinewy strands

Of muscle

Dangle loose

Like broken

Beaded threads

So lucky you

I chose you

With your

Crimson kisses

As blood covers

Like a stain

Over chapped lips

And like balm

Matching our blood

Pooling on the floor

  1. Hasty,
    Wow! Here’s my comment:

A rosy blemish, like an ink splot, smudges the cleanliness of the canvas.
The Crimson Stain is tattooed as permanent lipstick on my mouth. Sorrow and heartache felt.
